About The Position

Accountable for performing and coordinating and scoring physiologic studies of sleep and sleep-related disorders. The incumbent provides care to patients via technology, therapeutic interventions, and coordination of care with other health care professionals.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED
  • BLS Certification or RQI for Healthcare Providers
  • Current RPSGT/RST or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) licensed in the state of practice, if required
  • Available to work varying shifts, including night shift.
  • Specific certifications or skills as required by facility or patient population (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP).

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform overnight Polysomnographic studies, using various modes of Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy interventions.
  • Perform Home Sleep Apnea Tests (HSAT).
  • Monitors and documents on patients undergoing physiologic studies.
  • Monitors and tracks equipment and supplies.
  • Completes record keeping and charting.
  • Ability to address and solve both technical and interpersonal problems.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Ability to use computerized and mechanical equipment efficiently.
  • Ability to Score Studies according to AASM guidelines.
  • Obtain 10 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) related to sleep medicine annually.
  • This position provides supervision, mentorship, and orientation/ongoing education of the PSG Tech and PST CPSGT.
