About The Position

This is a part-time position for a Registered Respiratory Therapist with a rotating shift. The role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care, including ventilator management, medication delivery, airway clearance, resuscitation, arterial blood gas acquisition, and student supervision. The therapist will also perform bedside assessments, assist physicians with respiratory care inquiries, and conduct diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and pulmonary function tests. Responsibilities include understanding respiratory therapeutics, adhering to all policies, performing diagnostic studies on patients of all ages, maintaining accurate medical records, and disinfecting/sterilizing equipment.

Requirements

• Licensure by the State of Michigan as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• If Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), then obtain RRT within 6 months of employment.
• Working knowledge of all aspects of Respiratory Care including diagnostics.
• Current Certification in Basic Life Support.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care, including ventilator care, aerosolized medication delivery, mucous mobilization, resuscitation, and acquisition of arterial blood gases.
• Educate and supervise respiratory therapy students.
• Perform bedside assessments and provide assistance to physicians and other healthcare providers regarding respiratory care.
• Perform diagnostic procedures related to respiratory care, including EKG acquisition and pulmonary function determinations.
• Maintain familiarity with all respiratory therapeutics, their actions, expected results, and possible side effects.
• Comply with all policies, including those concerning incomplete orders, medication or therapy, adverse reactions, automatic stop orders, infection control, patient restraints, and safety regulations.
• Perform all respiratory and cardiac diagnostic studies on patients of all ages.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
• Disinfect and sterilize equipment.
