About The Position

Southlake Health is seeking a motivated, self-directed Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care across all hospital departments. As a member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting efficient patient flow in a fast-paced, acute medical setting. Registered Respiratory Therapists offer full-time coverage to all hospital areas with shifts scheduled for 8 or 12 hours in length. Shift assignments can include adult intensive care, cardiac intensive care, cardiovascular surgery intensive care, neonatal intensive care, emergency department, birthing unit, and wards, both pediatric and adult. New regular part-time employees hired into this department will be eligible for the Bonus Incentive payment of up to $4000.00 payable at established internals over the course of the first 2 years of continuous active employment. Requirements

  • RRT registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists in the General Class
  • Practice according to the standards and guidelines set out by the College
  • BCLS and NRP required
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred
  • Experience with asthma and COPD patient education preferred
  • Knowledge of adult education principles is an asset
  • Experience working with paediatrics and neonates preferred
  • Participates in the CRTO’s Quality Assurance Program

Responsibilities

  • Member of the CCOT team, responsible for responding to various codes within the organization.
  • Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of respiratory equipment.
  • Providing Respiratory Therapy coverage in the birthing unit, critical care units, emergency department, wards, and the pulmonary function lab.
