About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides respiratory care services to patients in accordance with physician orders, departmental policies, and professional standards of practice. The RRT assesses patient needs, develops care plans, administers respiratory therapies, and collaborates with providers and nursing staff to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. This position acts as a resource to the CRT staff. The RRT may be responsible for special clinical projects or assignments as designated by leadership according to the needs of the department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of Idaho
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP certifications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Previous acute care hospital experience
  • Experience with adult, pediatric, and neonatal respiratory care

Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders
  • Administer respiratory medications and therapeutic treatments
  • Manage oxygen therapy and aerosol treatments
  • Operate and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment
  • Perform patient assessments and document care accurately
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in code situations
  • Educate patients and families regarding respiratory treatments and disease management
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other caregivers to develop and implement treatment plans
