About The Position

A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join its Respiratory Therapy team in Yuma, Arizona. The RRT will provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult, pediatric, and—when appropriately trained—neonatal patients throughout the hospital and emergency care settings. Responsibilities include managing ventilated patients, administering respiratory treatments, obtaining and analyzing arterial blood gases, and assisting with emergency airway management. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of Respiratory Therapy experience, an active Arizona Respiratory Therapist license, and current RRT credentials. CRT-only candidates cannot be considered.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • RRT credential required; CRT-only candidates are not eligible
  • Current Arizona Respiratory Therapist license
  • Minimum of two years of Respiratory Therapy experience
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
  • Experience with mechanical ventilation
  • Experience drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases
  • Experience administering respiratory treatments
  • Ability to assist with intubation and emergency airway management
  • Strong respiratory assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently when assigned to a freestanding Emergency Department
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends
  • Willingness to float between hospital and freestanding Emergency Department locations as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Acute-care hospital Respiratory Therapy experience
  • Emergency Department or critical-care experience
  • NICU or neonatal Respiratory Therapy experience
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification for candidates providing neonatal coverage
  • Experience with Avea, Hamilton, V60, or similar respiratory equipment

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care to adult and pediatric patients throughout the hospital
  • Manage approximately 5–6 ventilated patients as assigned
  • Administer respiratory treatments, with typical workloads of approximately 35 treatments during a 12-hour shift
  • Initiate, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation according to established protocols and physician orders
  • Manage non-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen therapy
  • Draw and analyze arterial blood gases
  • Assess patients' respiratory status and response to treatment
  • Assist physicians and other clinical staff with intubation and emergency airway management
  • Respond to rapid changes in respiratory status and other clinical emergencies
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, intensivists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Provide respiratory coverage throughout inpatient units and emergency care areas
  • Float to a nearby freestanding Emergency Department when needed
  • Provide independent Respiratory Therapy coverage at the freestanding Emergency Department when assigned
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Perform equipment checks and ensure respiratory devices are functioning properly
  • Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and respiratory-care standards
  • Participate in weekend and holiday coverage according to department scheduling requirements
  • For RRTs with appropriate NICU training: Provide respiratory support to neonatal patients
  • For RRTs with appropriate NICU training: Attend deliveries and Cesarean sections
  • For RRTs with appropriate NICU training: Assist with neonatal airway and respiratory stabilization
