About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), also referred to as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP II), provides care and management for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. The role supports patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions in achieving optimal respiratory function and improving their quality of life. This is a per diem (PD/PRN), as-needed position at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Available shifts are days, with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Requirements

State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
ACLS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
NRP certificate within 60 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
PALS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience as an RCP preferred.
Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily.
Conduct pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange.
Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently.
Participate in rapid response emergencies by providing airway management, performing intubations, and resuscitating patients in critical situations.
Assess patients’ respiratory status, monitor their progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Clean, sterilize, and maintain respiratory equipment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
