About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist position with day shifts, working Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The role involves the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications, therapeutic modalities, and oxygen therapy. Responsibilities include setting up and monitoring oxygen administration, performing arterial punctures, managing artificial airways, administering mechanical ventilation (BiPap and CPAP), and familiarizing oneself with various oxygen delivery systems and measuring devices. The therapist will also be responsible for the setup, safety checks, monitoring, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators, as well as maintaining accurate patient records in the EMR and documenting patient charges.

Requirements

  • Must maintain Basic Life Safety (BLS) certification.
  • Must maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Must maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Texas state license Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care required.
  • Minimum five years in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications, knowing their indications and contraindications.
  • Knows and follows the indications and contraindications, the policy, and procedures in administering therapeutic modalities to include: HHN and lung expansion therapy.
  • Sets up and monitors oxygen administration.
  • Sets up oxygen cylinders and assures proper usage and safety measures are in place.
  • Performs arterial punctures using radial and brachial sites independently.
  • Draws off arterial lines to obtain sample for blood gas analysis.
  • Performs all aspects of artificial airway care.
  • Able to perform deep blind tracheal suctioning on patients.
  • Responsible for the administration of all types of mechanical ventilation including BiPap and CPAP.
  • Familiar with oxygen delivery systems (i.e., nasal, venuturi mask).
  • Familiar with measuring devices to include, but not limited to, pulse oximeter, respirometer, ETCO2.
  • Responsible for the set-up, safety check, monitoring, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators.
  • Maintains accurate and legible records, documenting clinical notes in EMR and complete documentation of all patient charges.
