About The Position

Saint Joseph Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join an established team providing specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. The therapist provides treatments ranging from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. The role requires assessment and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and carry out effective care plans, and respond calmly in routine and emergent situations.

Requirements

Associate of Science in Cardiopulmonary Services, upon hire, or Associate of Science in Respiratory Care, upon hire.
Kentucky Respiratory Care Practitioner credential, upon hire.
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, upon hire.
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

Plan and administer non-medicated aerosol and humidity therapy.
Plan and administer oxygen therapy, including implementing oxygen therapy protocols when appropriate.
Plan and administer aerosolized medication and specialty gas therapy.
Plan and administer the COPD care program.
Perform airway management.
Perform electrocardiography studies.
Plan and administer incentive spirometry.
Clean and reprocess respiratory therapy equipment and stock supplies for immediate use.
Plan and administer bronchial hygiene and perform chest physiotherapy, including implementing bronchial hygiene protocols when appropriate.
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manual ventilation during resuscitation attempts, and assist with rapid response calls when appropriate.
