About The Position

A registered respiratory therapist assesses and treats patients with breathing disorders, such as but not limited to asthma, emphysema, and pneumonia. They administer respiratory treatments, conduct diagnostic test, and educate patients on breathing techniques and equipment use. Additionally, they collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required
Technical diploma in Respiratory Therapy is required
Graduate for an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program
Current license with the Arkansas State Medical Board
Registered through the Nation Board of Respiratory Care RRT credential required
BLS required upon hire or before patient care
ACLS required within 6 months of hire
Strong communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, including but not limited to, physicians, nurses, and other respiratory therapists
Must be self motivated, have the ability to work independently, maintain a high level of accuracy, and have the ability to handle confidential material

Nice To Haves

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred
PALS/NRP preferred
2+ years hospital experience preferred
1+ years of respiratory therapy experience preferred
Experience in critical care and/ or neonatal care areas preferred
Proficiency in various respiratory therapy techniques preferred
Experience in an acute care setting preferred

Responsibilities

Administer respiratory treatments
Conduct diagnostic tests
Educate patients on breathing techniques and equipment use
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
Assess patient needs and adjust treatment plans as necessary
