About The Position

Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide individualized respiratory care for the entire age continuum. This role assists in facilitating improvements in the overall quality of patient care by utilizing a multidisciplinary approach and collaborating with the entire healthcare team. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will also participate in the orientation of staff and student training programs as part of Trinity Health System's commitment to being a teaching institution, representing the Respiratory Care department.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Registered as Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
  • Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required.
  • Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Practioner (NRP) and Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification. Both required within 6 months of hire.

  • Previous work experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized respiratory care for the entire age continuum.
  • Assist with facilitating improvement in the overall quality of patient care.
  • Utilize a multidisciplinary approach and collaborate with the entire health care team in coordinating services rendered to all patients.
  • Participate in orientation of staff and student training programs for Trinity Health System as a teaching institution representing the Respiratory Care department.
  • Demonstrate technical and clinical competence in adult critical care.
  • Apply patient care protocols and utilize assessment information to review and revise plan of care accordingly.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers, units, and other customers on an ongoing basis to coordinate services and exceed customer service needs.
  • Act as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other team members to address clinical patient care concerns.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation/charges are entered for the correct patient, encounter, date/time of service per practice expectations and facilitate corrections as needed.
  • Assist with tracking and monitoring of equipment and requests services for maintaining equipment as needed.
  • Participate in on-going education and take personal accountability to seek experiences in order to maintain skills/competency.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to Trinity Health System.
  • Discuss patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

  • Assume responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
