About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a critical role in providing specialized respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic breathing disorders. This position involves assessing, treating, and monitoring patients to improve their respiratory function and overall health outcomes. The RRT collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. The role requires the ability to operate advanced respiratory equipment and deliver emergency respiratory interventions when necessary. Ultimately, the RRT ensures that patients receive high-quality, evidence-based respiratory therapy to enhance their quality of life and recovery process. Completion and maintenance of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required within 6 months to 1 year of hire. These certifications are supported and provided by the organization.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • State licensure to practice as a respiratory therapist in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong understanding of respiratory care principles and clinical practices.
  • Completion and maintenance of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required within 6 months to 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certifications such as Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) or Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS).
  • Experience working in acute care hospital settings or intensive care units.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Additional training in pulmonary rehabilitation or sleep disorder management.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen delivery, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation management.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly while documenting all care activities accurately.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure safety and effectiveness during use.
  • Provides bedside respiratory care to patients as assigned by supervisors and given on the physician's written order for both in-house and out-patient care.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to less qualified RT Staff (RRTs, RCPs).
