About The Position

A community-based acute care hospital in western North Carolina is adding Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) to its night team. There are currently three openings for therapists who are comfortable working across routine respiratory care, urgent situations, and hospital emergencies. This role is for individuals who prefer nights and want a role where they'll use their clinical judgment rather than simply move from treatment to treatment. You'll work with patients who have a wide range of respiratory needs, from scheduled therapies and diagnostic testing to rapidly changing clinical situations. You'll assess how patients are responding to treatment, recognize when something isn't right, and communicate with the broader clinical team when intervention is needed. When a code or emergent call comes in, you'll be part of the response. It's hands-on respiratory care with the variety that comes from working inside an acute care hospital.

Requirements

An Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure in North Carolina
BCLS/BLS
ACLS
PALS
NRP
Comfortable working a dedicated night schedule

Responsibilities

Delivering prescribed respiratory therapies and monitoring patient response
Assessing patients during changes in respiratory status
Responding to codes and emergent calls
Performing and analyzing blood gas testing
Measuring lung capacity and supporting pulmonary diagnostic testing
Performing EKGs as ordered
Educating patients and families about respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment
Providing tobacco-cessation education when appropriate
Maintaining respiratory equipment so it's ready when patients need it
Supporting respiratory care quality and performance-improvement initiatives
