Piedmont Eastside is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our NICU team on a PRN basis. This role offers a fantastic career opportunity to join our Respiratory Department, dedicated to providing quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will share our common goal of making a positive difference in every life we touch. We utilize Respiratory Driven Protocols to manage patients in ICU and acute care areas. After completing competency, RTs are able to intubate and insert A-lines. We work in adult cardiac care unit (ICU), medical/surgical ICU, progressive care unit (PCU), and acute care floors. We have a Women’s Center with a level 3 NICU, where RTs attend deliveries and care for babies admitted to the NICU receiving respiratory care. We also have a pulmonary function lab (PFT) where RTs perform outpatient and inpatient PFTs, and perform inpatient EKGs. We manage various ventilators and respiratory support devices, and perform bronchoscopy assistance. There are opportunities for cross-training in EEGs, PFTs, and NICU, as well as participation in the Annual Pulmonary Conference, Leadership Development classes, and Skills Development Courses. Our team consists of approximately 50 members, including a director, supervisor, NICU lead, and adult leads. We typically staff 7 people during the day and 6-7 at night, varying with census and acuity. We also cover our South Campus which has an ED, behavioral health unit, and acute care rehab, with one RT per shift. We allow candidates to shadow our department and facility.
