About The Position

Join Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute, part of one of the world’s most respected healthcare organizations. This role offers the exciting opportunity to provide care in Cleveland Clinic Main Campus’ new Neurological Institute, a one-million-square-foot, 15-floor, state-of-the-art facility designed for complex neurological conditions including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, and stroke. Caregivers will also provide patient care in other areas across Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, such as Cardiac, Digestive Disease, and Medical-Surgical. Registered Respiratory Therapists deliver evidence-based clinical care to critically ill patients, including adult, pediatric, and/or neonatal populations. They evaluate, treat, and care for patients with various lung diseases and respiratory disorders like asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, COPD, and lung cancer. Additionally, Registered Respiratory Therapists perform duties such as IV insertion, ECGs, and peripheral phlebotomy. This position involves working three 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association (AHA) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification when appropriate for site.
  • Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an ICU or Emergency Department setting
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Neonatal/pediatric experience preferred when appropriate for site.
  • Prior experience performing invasive procedures preferred when appropriate for site.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications and treatments, and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
  • Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.
