The primary purpose of your job is to provide respiratory care to patients of all ages in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards guidelines, and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality care and safety can be maintained. This role involves emergency room and outpatient therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, atrial puncture with pH blood gas analysis, and various oxygen and therapeutic treatments. The position also includes initiating and monitoring mechanical ventilation, endotracheal suctioning, airway management, and stabilizing airways for patient transport. Additional duties include performing electrocardiograms, pulmonary function studies, multidisciplinary rounds, and end tidal CO2 monitoring. The therapist will attend high-risk deliveries and scheduled C-sections, educate patients, families, and staff, and cooperate with other clinical services. Participation in in-service education programs and staying current with healthcare changes are also key aspects of the role. The position requires documentation in the EPIC EMR system, knowledge of safety standards, monitoring equipment condition, following infection control procedures, recommending equipment needs, maintaining a clean and safe therapy area, and involving patients and families in treatment planning.
