About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) PRN Days position is responsible for providing respiratory care services to patients under the direction of a physician. This role involves patient assessment, developing and implementing treatment plans, performing therapeutic treatments, and documenting all aspects of care. The RRT will utilize available resources to maximize efficiency and productivity, and may participate in the orientation and training of students and new employees. This position is part of the Respiratory Care Department at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, a 369-bed acute-care facility serving North Texas since 1958. The hospital specializes in various medical services and is recognized for its high-quality patient care, including being a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, Level III Maternal Newborn care unit, and a Level III Trauma Center. Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program required
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • 1 year med/surg or critical care experience preferred
  • Adult and Neonatal ICU experience strongly preferred
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire preferred
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP required if working in the NICU 90 days required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year med/surg or critical care experience

Responsibilities

  • Obtains/verifies physician order for therapy and validate for appropriateness.
  • Reviews available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patient or family.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
  • Documents verification of physician orders prior to delivery of care.
  • Documents aspects of each treatment session in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilizes available resources (equipment, support personnel, educational resources) to maximize efficiency and productivity and meet departmental needs.
  • Participates in orientation and training of students and new employees.
  • Perform advanced skills to include adult intubations and vascular access procedures.
