About The Position

Texas Health is seeking a qualified Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join their team. This part-time position is located at 411 Belknap St, Stephenville TX 76401, within the Respiratory Care department. The work hours are Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5:30 PM to 5:30 AM, with opportunities to pick up additional hours. Texas Health Stephenville is a 98-bed full-service hospital that has been serving Erath and surrounding counties since 1926. It is part of Texas Health Resources, a large healthcare system in the DFW area. Requirements

Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program (required)
RCP – Respiratory Care Practitioner (required)
RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist (required)
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support required prior to independent patient care

Nice To Haves

1 year of experience in Med/Surg or Critical Care (preferred)
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 90 days)
NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 90 days)

Responsibilities

Obtain/verify physician order for therapy and validate for appropriateness.
Review available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patient or family.
Evaluate each patient using age and diagnosing appropriate assessment tests and measurement.
Use therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
Determine patient response to treatment and evaluate progress (reassessment).
Educate patient and family through instruction, demonstration, or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, and home programs/self-management.
Maintain bedside and ventilator alarms in audible position.
Communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.
Administer medication in a safe/correct manner, adhering to medication administration guidelines.
Document aspects of each treatment session in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
Document assessments of education needs, education provided, and patient understanding of education provided in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
