About The Position

Texas Health is seeking a qualified Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join their team. This part-time position is located at 411 Belknap St, Stephenville TX 76401, within the Respiratory Care department. The work hours are Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5:30 PM to 5:30 AM, with opportunities to pick up additional hours. Texas Health Stephenville is a 98-bed full-service hospital that has been serving Erath and surrounding counties since 1926. It is part of Texas Health Resources, a large healthcare system in the DFW area. The city of Stephenville offers a family-friendly environment with educational institutions, cultural activities, and a rich western heritage, providing a balance of small-town charm and access to metropolitan amenities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program (required)
  • RCP – Respiratory Care Practitioner (required)
  • RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist (required)
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support required prior to independent patient care

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or Critical Care (preferred)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 90 days)
  • NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required within 90 days)

Responsibilities

  • Obtain/verify physician order for therapy and validate for appropriateness.
  • Review available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patient or family.
  • Evaluate each patient using age and diagnosing appropriate assessment tests and measurement.
  • Use therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Determine patient response to treatment and evaluate progress (reassessment).
  • Educate patient and family through instruction, demonstration, or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, and home programs/self-management.
  • Maintain bedside and ventilator alarms in audible position.
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.
  • Administer medication in a safe/correct manner, adhering to medication administration guidelines.
  • Document aspects of each treatment session in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Document assessments of education needs, education provided, and patient understanding of education provided in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
