About The Position

Flaget Memorial Hospital is a 52-bed facility in Bardstown, Kentucky, and part of CHI Saint Joseph Health and CommonSpirit Health. The Registered Respiratory Therapist joins an established respiratory therapy team and provides specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients with breathing issues. Care includes breathing techniques, nebulizer treatments, ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. The therapist assesses patients, uses critical thinking to manage varied needs, develops and implements care plans, and provides focused interventions in routine and emergent situations.

Requirements

Associate of Science in Cardiopulmonary Services, upon hire, or Associate of Science in Respiratory Care, upon hire.
Kentucky Respiratory Care Practitioner credential, upon hire.
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, upon hire.
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

Plan and administer non-medicated aerosol and humidity therapy.
Plan and administer oxygen therapy, including implementing the oxygen therapy protocol where appropriate.
Plan and administer aerosolized medication and specialty gas therapy.
Plan and administer the COPD care program.
Perform airway management.
Perform electrocardiography studies.
Plan and administer incentive spirometry.
Clean and reprocess respiratory therapy equipment and stock supplies for immediate use.
Plan and administer bronchial hygiene and perform chest physiotherapy, including implementing the bronchial hygiene protocol where appropriate.
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manual ventilation during resuscitation attempts.
Assist with rapid response calls when appropriate.
