About The Position

This is a part-time, as-needed position for dayshift (7A-7P) in the Respiratory Therapy Services department at Atrium Health Stanly. The role requires the NRP certification. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will demonstrate knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each, and can conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation. They will administer therapeutic procedures, understanding the purpose and benefits, and possible effects associated with each, and perform diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy. The therapist will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators, and be aware of the critical care duties and effects of such therapy. They will independently evaluate current therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols, making proper recommendations concerning plans of care and patient education needs. Documentation of therapy and results as required by hospital, department, and regulatory agencies is essential, along with communicating information to appropriate members of the healthcare team. The role involves initiating, conducting, and modifying respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting, performing and evaluating blood sampling analysis with a thorough understanding of the values, and the importance and treatment of abnormal results. The therapist will work independently in all patient care areas and assist co-workers with patient care whenever possible, and be proficient in the electronic medical records and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department. Following departmental safety guidelines, completing all regulatory requirements, and completing annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
  • Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of applicable state.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • NRP required.
  • For free-standing Emergency Department and Virtual Critical Care, 2 years critical care experience required.
