About The Position

This role involves providing evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. The therapist will assess patients for appropriate treatment types and frequency, developing a plan of care based on diagnosis. Responsibilities include implementing and monitoring the patient care plan and equipment, monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition, and performing advanced respiratory care modalities. The role also involves evaluating respiratory practice, medication administration, and treatment based on patient outcomes, as well as educating patients and families about their health conditions and available community resources. The therapist will also respond to emergency resuscitation team codes.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioners Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.
