Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. This specific Radiology Technologist will not only perform these tasks but will also perform lab duties such as phlebotomy and testing. This is a great opportunity for someone who is willing to learn and grow at a top healthcare organization. A caregiver in this position works weekdays from 2:00PM – 9:00PM and every other weekend from 9:00AM – 5:00PM. Holidays will be required, as needed. Mercy Health Center of Jackson will be the primary work location, but floating to the Plain location will be required, as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
  • Experience with phlebotomy
  • Experience with lab testing including CLIA waived tests

Responsibilities

  • Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Maintain documentation.
  • Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.
  • Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients, and process billing.
