About The Position

Virginia Family Services (VFS) is currently seeking QMHPs (also QMHP-Trainees) for the position of Community Support Specialist. This position will provide individualized support and guidance to assist with daily life challenges. A Registered QMHP or Trainee will render services in the following programs: Mental Health Skills-Building Services (MHSS) - provides adult supportive services, daily living skills training, medication management assistance, independent living skills, community service coordination, healthy relationship support, establishing daily routines, budgeting assistance, social skills training, and coping skills training. Intensive In-Home (IIH) - assist youth between ages 5-22 who experience mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. This is a community-based position, and services are provided in person in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related approved Human Services field AND one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience is defined as: Experience providing services in a community or facility setting, preparing clinical documentation (daily, quarterly, and progress notes), and assisting individuals with meeting their personal goals and objectives.
  • Must be a Registered with the Board of Counseling.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to complete required documentation within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated assessment and counseling skills (risk, suicidal, crisis intervention & diagnostic).
  • Ability to respond appropriately to aggressive behaviors with the least restrictive interventions.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Proficient personal computer operations skills including Word, Excel.
  • Previous case management and documentation-related experience.
