About The Position

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. The Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide treatment services to children and their families who are referred to the ADHD Service at MATC. The clients in MATC ADHD Service range in age from 6-18 years, and have a wide range of behavioural, emotional and comorbid mental health concerns that impact their home, school and community environments. Services to this group are delivered in a community-based setting, utilizing bio-psychosocial models and systemic frameworks. MATC ADHD Service operates on a provincial level. The functions are undertaken consistent with the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre’s established philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures and standards of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics outlined by the CPNAM and/or CRNM professional bodies.

Requirements

  • Experience in mental health is essential.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with children with a diagnosis of ADHD, neurodevelopmental, tic disorders and/or behavioral disorders.
  • Graduate from an approved program in Psychiatric Nursing or Nursing.
  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Must be familiar with psychotropic medications, current ADHD behaviour strategies and evidenced based interventions.
  • Solid knowledge base in the provision of trauma informed care.
  • Understanding and appreciation of impact of our history related to colonization and outcomes from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission including its Calls to Action.
  • This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds is an asset.
  • B.Sc.P.N., B.Sc. M.H. or B.Sc.N. preferred.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

  • Administers and monitors effects of medications and related health care procedures.
  • Collaborates with families and community supports to meet client needs.
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships within the interprofessional team and community.
  • Identifies and accesses community resources.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.
