About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join their Surgical Inpatient Unit 11 East & West. This is a temporary full-time position with an employment duration until April 2027, subject to change. The role involves working 8 or 12-hour rotating shifts on weekdays, evenings, nights, and/or weekends. Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current Registered Practical Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Demonstrated competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in assessment and management of patients with continuous peripheral nerve block (CPNB) and patient controlled analgesia (PCA).
  • Minimum 1 year acute surgical experience, preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
