Requirements

  • Registered Practical Nurse Diploma required
  • Currently registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current BLS/CPR Certificate required
  • Demonstrated clinical competence with general medicine nursing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team, as well as independently
  • Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Experience working with diverse population groups
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to patient centered care
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven attendance and punctuality.
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic setting/ambulatory care environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in compliance with the scope of practice.
  • Receives patients into unit; obtains and documents nursing assessment, vital signs, health and social histories as applicable
  • Identifies and prioritizes for the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient.
  • Provides care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment.
  • Records patient health care information in a precise. concise and organized manner.
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure standards of care and practice are met.
  • Provides teaching materials and evaluates and reinforces education to staff, patients and patient’s relatives.
  • Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, their families and staff.
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
