Requirements
- Registered Practical Nurse Diploma required
- Currently registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Current BLS/CPR Certificate required
- Demonstrated clinical competence with general medicine nursing skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team, as well as independently
- Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Experience working with diverse population groups
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to patient centered care
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven attendance and punctuality.
- Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic setting/ambulatory care environment preferred
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in compliance with the scope of practice.
- Receives patients into unit; obtains and documents nursing assessment, vital signs, health and social histories as applicable
- Identifies and prioritizes for the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Provides care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment.
- Records patient health care information in a precise. concise and organized manner.
- Collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure standards of care and practice are met.
- Provides teaching materials and evaluates and reinforces education to staff, patients and patient’s relatives.
- Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, their families and staff.
- This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
