About The Position
As a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, the Registered Practical Nurse provides safe, empathetic, and client-centered Maternal & Newborn nursing care to the full scope of practice for Registered Practical Nurses. This position offers a unique mix of patient populations that allows for diversity and the ability to use assessment and technical skills on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
- Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses as a Registered Practical Nurse
- Current B.C.L.S. required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certificate
- Breastfeeding Certificate Program (or equivalent)
- Maternal Newborn Nursing Certificate (Perinatal 1&2 course) completed or in progress
- Recent obstetrical experience including, post-partum care, care of newborn and experience assisting with breast feeding
- Recent experience caring for women and their families, post-operatively in all aspects of Women’s Health
- Demonstrated ability to interact with patients, families, and co-workers in an effective, professional, positive caring manner.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams in a effective, professional, caring manner
- Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated leadership ability and organizational skills, ongoing professional development
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
