About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join their Nursing Resource Team. This team is part of the Staffing Resource Centre within the hospital and is trained to cover all Medicine and Surgical Inpatient Units. Members of the team have the opportunity to be trained in specialty areas. The role involves providing Registered Practical Nurse duties across all Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units, with the expectation of availability for all rotating shifts. Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification or demonstrated competency.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Excellent Health Assessment skills required.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year acute medical/surgical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with the Nurse Resource Team is an asset.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
