About The Position

GraceMed Barrie, Royal Centre of Plastic Surgery, is looking for a Registered Practical Nurse to join their team. The Operating Room Nurse (RPN) plays an integral role in the delivery of safe, efficient surgical care throughout the perioperative experience. Working collaboratively with the surgeon, anesthesia team, and fellow healthcare professionals, you will assist in ensuring exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgery.

Requirements

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused approach
  • Flexibility to work casual weekday shifts (primarily Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous operating room experience
  • Plastic surgery experience is considered a strong asset
  • Perioperative nursing experience
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgical or private surgical facility

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room and surgical equipment for scheduled procedures.
  • Provide direct perioperative nursing care in accordance with professional standards and facility policies.
  • Assist the surgical team during plastic and reconstructive procedures
  • Maintain strict sterile technique and infection prevention practices
  • Monitor patient status and respond appropriately throughout the surgical experience.
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation.
  • Assist with patient preparation and recovery as required.
  • Ensure instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning properly.
  • Participate in maintaining accreditation and quality assurance standards.
  • Support a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered surgical environment.
