Requirements

  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health legislation, substitute decisions act, health care consent act, Personal Health Information Protection Act (Essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and establish therapeutic relationships with clients and team member (Essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (Essential)
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning (Essential)
  • Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.
  • Effectively uses the nursing process.
  • Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit.
  • Provides appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life.
  • Is accountable for maintaining competence while developing the quality of his/ her professional nursing practice.
