Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in specialty, retail, mail order, or hospital pharmacy is required.
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred.
  • Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine and non-routine pharmacy technician functions and activities.
  • Multi-tasking between multiple software programs and/or applications.
  • Handling multiple telecommunication lines.
  • Working efficiently in all Microsoft programs.
  • Exercising excellent communication skills to successfully interact with all levels of internal and external parties.
  • Documenting all information accurately to the best of the employee’s knowledge and presenting it in a professional manner.
  • Effectively using, pronouncing, and spelling common medical and pharmacy terms.
  • Keeping open lines of communication with their immediate supervisor and/or manager.
  • Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Intake Team: Responsible for pharmacy insurance data entry and verification of insurance benefits.
  • Providing exceptional service to patients, staff, insurance representatives, pharmaceutical representatives, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Interacting in a professional manner with all contacts in order to promote effective exchanges of information.
  • Serving as the first line of communication for inbound/outbound telephonic calls, e-mails, and internal computer program communications for the pharmacy department.
  • Coordinating with appropriate teams in the pharmacy to expedite all pharmacy services.
  • Adherence Team: Responsible for documenting and encouraging therapy adherence under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
  • Maintaining accurate medication information (missed doses, medication reconciliation, patient-reported side effects, and dose changes), investigating prescription barriers, reporting order updates to the clinic, and scheduling orders for delivery/pickup in a timely manner.
  • Revenue Team: Responsible for ensuring that prescriptions are processed for eligible patients and properly billed to their benefit plan.
  • Working with insurance companies to resolve billing issues and communicate any potential delays to the appropriate pharmacy staff members.
  • Providing support to the Revenue Manager for the day-to-day financial operations of the pharmacy and being an active member of the audit team.
  • Dispensing & Distribution Team: Responsible for the dispensing of oral oncology medications under the supervision of the Dispensing Operations Pharmacist, including accurately counting and filling, ordering and stocking, packaging, and shipping of oral oncology medications.
