A Registered Pharmacy Technician participates in the provision of safe, competent, patient or family centered ethical care, ensuring the goals and needs of the patient are prioritized and individualized; prepares, packages and dispenses medication under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Responsibilities include compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage forms, dispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients in unit dose, physician order entry, working with automation, Inventory control, medication reconciliation, and CIVA systems. Preparation of chemotherapy doses, distributing narcotics and participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
  • Eligible for Licensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator (NSPR) required
  • Candidates who meet the above qualifications and are actively pursuing Pharmacy Technician licensure within the province of Nova Scotia will be hired as a Pharmacy Practice Assistant until registration is achieved

Nice To Haves

  • Competencies in other languages is an asset; French preferred
