About The Position

This position is for a Registered Pharmacy Technician I working PRN (as needed) at Texas Health Southwest and Texas Health Clearfork, which operate as one hospital across two locations. The role involves the timely and accurate preparation, delivery, and storage of medications, utilizing technology where appropriate. The technician will ensure the accuracy of their own work, maintain required competencies, and adhere to departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards. Responsibilities also include ongoing professional development, effective communication, teamwork, and training new employees on routine tasks. The technician will share responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs and identifying process efficiencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language
  • Proficiency in computers
  • Ability to adapt to various software systems
  • Basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Sterile IV Certification highly preferred
  • Inpatient hospital experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
