About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a MedSurg/Tele Registered Nurse to work independently and provide direct patient care. You will utilize the nursing process to ensure that you are delivering developmentally appropriate care to patients. You will also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to create a comprehensive plan of care that meets the needs of patients and their families. This role requires in-depth professional knowledge and practical/applied expertise in nursing, with a basic understanding of related disciplines. The nurse will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead projects. They will solve complex problems, exercise judgment based on analysis, and work within broad guidelines. The nurse will explain difficult or sensitive information, build consensus, and oversee care delivered by the patient care team, coordinating the plan of care. They are accountable for ensuring patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations. The role involves prescribing, delegating, and coordinating patient care, using clinical judgment and critical thinking to develop appropriate plans of care. Education and learning facilitation for patients, families, and the care team are key, with sensitivity to diversity. Collaboration with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals is essential for optimal patient outcomes. The nurse will advocate for the patient, represent their concerns, and help resolve ethical and clinical issues. Accurate documentation of all patient encounters and protection of Patient Health Information (PHI) are required. Adherence to infection prevention initiatives is mandatory. Competent and skilled care delivery, with a team-orientation, emphasis on customer relations, sound clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice, is expected. Continuous assessment of patient condition and implementation of treatment changes in collaboration with the healthcare team, including the patient and family, is crucial. Maintaining knowledge and tools to manage environmental and system resources for patients and families across healthcare and non-healthcare systems is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license
  • Basic EKG course within one year of hire
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Current AHA ACLS Certification

  • Academic degree in nursing (Bachelors or Master’s degree)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Additional languages preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge
