About The Position

The Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit is a 14-bed unit providing treatment for patients whose psychiatric symptoms may be the result of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, neurodegenerative disorders or head traumas. As a Registered Nurse/RN you will perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans. You will administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician, teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families, and provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff. You will also document and report patient progress to the treatment team.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
  • AHA CPR required before first day of employment
  • Must hold current registered nurse (RN) licensure to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment and maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment.
  • Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred
  • Preferred Geriatric and/or Med-Surg experience (at least 1 year)
  • Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred, but not necessary.
