About The Position

The Registered Nurse on Allegheny General Hospital’s 12A Telemetry Unit is responsible and accountable for a designated patient population, providing care through the nursing process. The 24-bed unit has single-occupancy rooms and provides high-acuity post-surgical care to cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and transplant patients, as well as support and treatment for patients with LVADs. The unit holds Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification (C4).

The nurse provides safe, effective care to the age population served, directs and manages patient-care delivery by team members, collaborates with the multidisciplinary team from admission through discharge, and assesses and addresses patient and family learning needs. The role follows applicable regulatory requirements and the organization’s ethical, legal, privacy, and information-security policies.

This is a full-time, union position at Allegheny General Hospital. The schedule is 72 hours every two weeks, with rotating weekends and holidays per policy.

Requirements

• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure or current multistate licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR certification.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective care for the age population served, according to regulatory requirements.
• Professionally direct and manage patient-care delivery activities performed by team members.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan care from admission through discharge.
• Assess the learning needs of patients and families and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
• Comply with applicable ethical and legal standards, company policies, HIPAA privacy requirements, and information-security guidelines.
