About The Position

Northeast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities. This role focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, providing effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. The position involves seeking and providing feedback for improved clinical practice, assuming a beginning clinical bedside leadership role, and participating in professional nursing shared governance. The nurse will actively participate on Unit Councils, helping with plans to improve nursing-sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data. For new graduate RNs, the focus is on developing knowledge and skills and showing growth in caring for increasingly complex patients. The role is responsible for providing direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process and coordinating care for assigned patients to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes. Consultation with more experienced clinicians and acceptance of feedback are expected.

Requirements

Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia
Associates Degree
Completion Peri-op 101 or equivalent and or experience in a procedural area
One year of experience as a professional RN
Basic computer skills necessary to operate computer systems used on unit

Previous specialty experience preferred
National certification in clinical specialty
Bachelor of Nursing Degree
Two years of experience in specialty nursing field (Operating Room)
Membership in professional organization

Responsibilities

Provide direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process.
Coordinate care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes.
Seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice.
Assume a beginning clinical bedside leadership role and seek mentoring.
Participate as a professional member of VOICE professional nursing shared governance.
Participate as a member on VOICE councils and Nursing Quality Teams.
Actively participate on Unit Council helping with plans to improve NDNQI nursing sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data.
Work together with other care team members to recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team.
Demonstrate basic assessment skills.
Demonstrate the 5 rights of medication administration.
Manage care for basic patient assignment and progress to care for increasingly complex patients.
Accurately document all aspects of the nursing process using the electronic medical record.
Understand and comply with all DNV standards.
Access and follow policies.
Evaluate patient response to interventions and adjust plan of care appropriately.
Consistently coordinate interdisciplinary care.
Use resources effectively to reduce waste.
Participate in PI processes.
Participate in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure compliance with DNV regulations.
Coordinate discharge planning.
Actively contribute to a culture of safety within the organization.
Include the patient and family in patient care.
Provide effective education appropriate for the learning needs of patient/family.

Participate in discharge planning with increasing responsibility and coordination.
Demonstrate the ability to rapidly recognize and anticipate changes in patient status and take appropriate action while maintaining professional composure.
Recognize existence of nursing practice trends and question care as it relates to evidence based practice.
Consistently and independently prioritize patient care.
Support unit goals.

Supervise and ensure completion of tasks assigned to ancillary/support staff.
