About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse to join our Ortho Trauma Progressive Care Unit (5 South). This is a 35-bed monitored nursing unit that provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients ranging from adults to Geriatrics. The conditions that are within the scope of service include post ICU trauma patients, complex plastic reconstructive surgeries, complex ENT patients, traumatic complex fractures and musculoskeletal wounds, elective joint replacements, sports injuries, spinal deformities, complicated pelvic, hip, and compression fractures, skeletal malformations and abnormalities, amputations and prosthesis, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Medical/Surgical patients including those requiring Telemetry.

Requirements

  • Graduate of RN School of Nursing
  • ADN required
  • Active RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Require or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing
  • RN license
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for post ICU trauma patients (serious traumatic injury to 2 or more body systems)
  • Provide care for complex Plastic reconstructive surgeries (including reconstructive flaps and graft sites, post cancer reconstruction, and trauma related reconstruction)
  • Provide care for complex ENT patients including free muscle flaps and neck dissections
  • Provide care for complex ENT reconstructive tracheostomies and laryngectomies
  • Provide care for Traumatic Complex Fractures and musculoskeletal wounds
  • Provide care for Elective Joint Replacements – Rapid Recovery Program
  • Provide care for Sports Injuries
  • Provide care for Spinal Deformities
  • Provide care for Complicated Pelvic, Hip, and compression Fractures
  • Provide care for Skeletal Malformations and Abnormalities
  • Provide care for Amputations and Prosthesis
  • Provide care for Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery
  • Provide care for Medical/Surgical patients including those requiring Telemetry
