About The Position

Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our rheumatology practice. The Infusion RN will provide direct patient care as well as clinical coordination and administrative support in our outpatient infusion suite. This role requires excellent nursing skills, patient education abilities, and strong organization capabilities in a fast-paced specialty practice.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong IV insertion and vascular access skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Strong patient education and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred.
  • Prior experience in rheumatology, oncology, or gastroenterology or neurology infusion clinics is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of biologic therapies and infusion protocols preferred.
  • NextGen EMR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Administer intravenous biologic therapies, infusions, and injections according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Assess patients prior to, during, and after infusion treatments for adverse reactions or complications.
  • Monitor vital signs and patient responses throughout infusion therapy.
  • Initiate and maintain IV access using appropriate aseptic technique.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, infusion expectations, side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Document all nursing assessments, treatments, medication administration, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Respond appropriately to infusion reactions and medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, LPN's, and medical assistants.
  • Review laboratory results and verify treatment parameters prior to medication administration.
  • Maintain infection control and patient safety standards in accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain infusion supplies, medications, and equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement and compliance initiatives.
  • Coordinator infusion scheduling and patient appointments
  • Maintain accurate infusion records, logs, and inventory documentation.
  • Assist with medication ordering and inventory management.
  • Track and document patient treatment plans and follow-up needs.
  • Answer patient calls and address infusion-related questions or concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with practice policies, state regulations, and accreditations standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education activities.
