About The Position

This is a full-time, dayshift position working three 12-hour shifts per week, with every third weekend rotation. The role is in a Critical Care Mixed Acuity Unit, which functions as both a critical care and telemetry unit specializing in medical critical care. Staff will receive training in both critical care and telemetry, and will care for patients across the entire age spectrum, from young adults to geriatrics. The Registered Nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned patient, regardless of age, and is responsible for patient care consistent with Kentucky Nursing Laws and organizational policies. The nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and quality care, contributes to a healthy professional practice environment, and collaborates with the inter-professional team. National Professional Nursing Standards guide nurses in utilizing critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and nursing judgment. The role also involves continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Requirements

  • Active Kentucky License
  • BCLS Required within 90 days of employment.
  • ACLS will be required within six months for experienced staff nurses and within one year for new graduate nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment/reassessment
  • Develops plan of care utilizing appropriate evidence based standards of care.
  • Provides care consistent with policies, procedures, current evidence based professional standards of practice and Baptist Health Louisville’s nursing mission, vision, values and model of care.
  • Evaluates patient response to treatment
  • Applies critical thinking, clinical reasoning, organizational and leadership skills.
