The RN works in the 20-bed Telemetry Observation Unit on 2 South, caring for patients who meet observation-status criteria. The unit provides care for stable patients requiring additional observation or treatment within a 23-hour period. Most patients are cardiac, though nurses also care for patients with conditions such as asthma, syncope, rule-out TIA, abdominal pain, and nausea or vomiting. After tests and treatment, patients are discharged or transferred to another hospital unit for admission. The unit offers intermediate-level care, including management of patients who require titration of drips and closer monitoring. The team is trained in trauma and stroke care and works collaboratively with providers and colleagues to deliver high-quality care. This position is scheduled for 72 hours biweekly, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
