About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides patient care in the OR Ambulatory PACU at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The role implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient condition, coordinates care across disciplines, and carries out physician and nursing orders. The nurse assesses patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs to provide individualized care; coordinates discharge planning; delegates care appropriately; and participates in interdisciplinary rounds and professional development. The position follows ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the ANA Social Policy Statement.

Requirements

Current Connecticut RN license.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
PACU, ICU, or ED experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator across disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs to provide individualized care.
Delegate aspects of care to nursing personnel consistent with their education and expertise.
Participate in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds and provide appropriate input to meet desired outcomes.
Follow the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice (2015), ANA Code of Ethics (2015), and ANA Social Policy Statement (2015).
Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care.
Participate in professional growth and development activities outside of patient care.
