About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Pre-Op & PACU team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Pre-Op & PACU provides specialized care for both adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver exceptional patient care throughout the surgical experience. The Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment supporting the main Level I Trauma Center operating rooms while providing expert pre-operative preparation and post-anesthesia recovery care. This position allows nurses to expand their clinical expertise while collaborating with a highly experienced team committed to patient-centered care and outstanding outcomes.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Diploma in Nursing (Required)

Nice To Haves

• ED, ICU, Intercare/IMC, strongly preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Previous Pre-Op, PACU, Perioperative, Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Surgical Services experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adult and pediatric surgical patients.
• Prepare patients and families for surgical procedures through education and clinical assessment.
• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care and monitor patients for changes in condition.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality care.
• Manage care for patients in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment.
• Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to respond to changing patient needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Support patient safety, quality initiatives, and excellent patient experience outcomes.
