About The Position

This position involves providing direct patient care in an endoscopy setting. Responsibilities include recording patient history, preparing patients for procedures, assisting physicians, monitoring patient recovery, and maintaining accurate electronic health records. The role also involves administering infusions and injections, performing various diagnostic tests, and managing medical supplies. Depending on the site, there may be a requirement to care for pediatric patients and participate in on-call duties. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Experience using an Electronic Health Record is required.
  • Current Minnesota Nursing License is required.
  • Must be BLS certified.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of clinical experience is preferred.
  • GI related experience is preferred.
  • PACU experience preferred.
  • Pediatric sites require PALS certification for Charge Nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Record patients’ medical history and assessment.
  • Start IV/saline lock.
  • Perform INR and glucose testing.
  • Prepare patients for and assist physician in endoscopy procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records in the electronic health record.
  • Recovery of sedated patients and discharge assessments.
  • Utilize proper infection control techniques.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care, anticipate patient and physician needs.
  • Instruct individuals and families on topics such as health education and disease prevention.
  • Infusion and injection administration
  • Esophageal Motility/PH testing
  • ARM/Biofeedback
  • InterSTIM wire placement and removal
  • Assist with BRAVO Capsule placement
  • Capsule studies
  • Maintain supplies by keeping supplies stock for the Endoscopy Center and order as needed
  • Responding to patient calls while on call (evening, weekend or holiday)
  • Admission, recovery, and procedural care of pediatric patients
  • Any and all other duties as assigned
