About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in working in a high acuity unit. The patient population includes individuals experiencing pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, numbness, and problems with sleep. The role involves assisting families with medical decisions by providing a better understanding of the medical condition and choices for medical care. Strong customer service and a great work ethic are sought after. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is offered, along with relocation assistance.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license.
  • Previous acute care experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation).
  • Adhering to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Possessing clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Participating in the 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program, which focuses on orientation and intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program.
  • Engaging in formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards through in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs.
  • Gaining exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Receiving hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor.
  • Having the opportunity to share experiences and network with peers in a safe, protected environment.
  • Participating in a series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses).
