Requirements

Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer.
Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing.
Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects.
Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience
Bachelors degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform all functions related to patient care.
Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the Healthcare consumer’s health and/or the situation.
Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or the issues.
Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the Healthcare consumer of the situation.
Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
Implements the identified plan and ensures patient progression along the plan.
Coordinates care delivery.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Provides consultation to influence the identified plan, enhance the abilities of others, and effect change.
Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
Follows the ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2010) to enhance nursing practice quality and effectiveness.
Attains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice.
Evaluates own nursing practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, rules, and regulations.
Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
Collaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
Integrates research findings into practice.
Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in planning and delivery of nursing services.
Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.

Practices within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined by the state and delivers competent care consistent with standards, policies, laws, regulators, and accreditation/certifying organizations.

Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to support and document nursing activities and patient care.
