About The Position

Meritus Medical Center is seeking an experienced, compassionate Registered Nurse for its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The PACU RN provides Phase I recovery care to surgical and trauma patients during the period immediately following anesthesia. The role involves continuous assessment and monitoring, management of post-operative symptoms, and prompt intervention when a patient's condition changes. The PACU is a fast-paced clinical environment with low nurse-to-patient ratios aligned with national ASPAN standards and support from a dedicated leadership team. The nurse may also prepare and care for patients in the pre-operative holding area, assist anesthesia providers with assessments and pre-procedural evaluations, and support hospital operations by caring for critically ill patients during periods of high census. The position offers clinical autonomy, collaboration with an experienced interdisciplinary team, and opportunities to develop perioperative and critical care nursing skills. As-needed positions are not eligible for benefits and have a set rate of pay. Employees working evenings, nights, or weekends may be eligible for a shift differential.
