About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient- and family-centered care. The RN demonstrates clinical competency by using evidence-based practices and research throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The position requires compliance with organizational policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. The acute inpatient setting usually requires scheduling for a significant amount of shift, weekend, holiday, and on-call work. The RN assesses patients, develops and updates individualized plans of care with patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, provides and coordinates direct care, delegates tasks appropriately, evaluates outcomes, and supports patient education and discharge planning. The RN advocates for patients, communicates pertinent care information, monitors quality and safety, participates in performance improvement activities, and maintains professional competency and licensure. This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
