About The Position

We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our team in correctional healthcare in beautiful Ordway, Colorado and across the state. Requirements

  • Minimum one full year experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Unencumbered Colorado or Compact registered nursing license
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Successful completion of a thorough background check and onboarding process
  • Must be able to complete a rigorous and physical four-day self-defense course
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations involving inmates and/or medical situations and make policy and profession compliant decisions.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to serve the population with empathy, while staying objective and assertive and be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

  • Corrections experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive medical documentation.
  • Provide standardized patient education in accordance with established nursing guidelines.
  • Transcribe and communicate medical orders during shift changes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Deliver direct patient care, including physical treatments and medication administration (PO, IM, IV, SQ, SL).
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to implement and support individualized treatment plans.
  • Apply infection control practices and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Conduct patient interviews, triage assessments, and respond to urgent and emergent situations.
  • Assist physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with minor medical and surgical procedures.
  • Monitor, order, and restock medications and medical supplies as needed.
  • Observe and report patients’ physical and emotional conditions, including responses to medications and treatments.
  • Perform comprehensive physical and behavioral health assessments using established nursing protocols.
  • Promote and uphold a safe and secure clinical environment, including careful control of medications, sharps, instruments, and other sensitive medical items.
  • Operate clinical equipment appropriate to the assigned unit.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable life safety policies and procedures.
  • Report safety or security concerns promptly through established documentation channels.
