Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing program as approved by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding.
  • AHA Healthcare BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions protocol.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management and provision of care given to patients by self or others who are under their supervision and in accordance with UVA Health’s policies and procedures and scope of practice.
  • Serves as a leader of the healthcare team by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health.
  • Assists Clinic leaders and Medical Providers with additional and unique needs of the patient population.
  • Serves as the clinical resource for all clinical team members in the clinic.
  • Models leadership qualities for other team members and assists the Clinic Leaders with day-to-day operations.
  • May order or assist with ordering of clinical supplies, linens, pharmaceuticals, as well as maintain inventories and required logs/documentation.
  • Provides services to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individuals served.
  • Integrates the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing, the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
  • Reflects the influence of the nurse's relationship with self, colleagues, and patient/family on the patient's experience.
  • Encompasses clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementation of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and actively participates in professional governance.
  • Encompasses professional development through formal education, professional certification, and internal and external learning opportunities and recognizes the value of external professional organizations.
  • Supports onboarding of new team members and precepts as applicable.
  • Includes adherence to clinical documentation guidelines, comprehension of outcomes data, engagement in performance improvement activities, and commitment to standard work.
  • Is demonstrated by the application of technologies that support patient care, actively seeking to implement evidence-based practice and new knowledge generated by nursing research.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
