About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath holding unit. This is a PRN/Flexi Day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. As a Pre/Post nurse in Cardiac Cath Holding, you will be responsible for prepping and recovering cardiac Cath, VIR, and EP patients in preparation for invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. ACLS required, strong cardiac background preferred. Operational hours of the department will be 0530 -2030 Monday - Friday. Candidates will be expected to rotate shifts within the operational hours in order to maintain competency in all aspects of care both pre and post procedure. No Weekends, No nights! The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

Registered nursing License (Required)
ACLS required prior to completion of orientation
BLS required within 90 days of hire
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
Critical care experience in hospital required

Nice To Haves

1-2 years Cath/EP Lab, Emergency Department or ICU experience.
RN with cardiac step-down experience will be considered.
Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
Strong cardiac background preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepping and recovering cardiac Cath, VIR, and EP patients in preparation for invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures.
Rotate shifts within the operational hours (0530 -2030 Monday - Friday) to maintain competency in all aspects of care both pre and post procedure.

Intra-procedural patient care/monitoring and moderate sedation.
